The topic we learn about in these two weeks was about the begginings of the language, The Anglosaxon Period and all the context around it. It was very interesting knowing how language started changing and changing till the way It is spoken now. Besides that, we learn a lot about literature and the histories and poems that were told in those days, they all have diversity of symbolism and enchant so as there were not written they had to be expressed at loud by story tellers. Until the first story Beowulf which is the first handwritten story in the story of English Literature.
This poem reflect many characteristics of the Anglo Saxons in those days, through Beowulf we can infer that they were a kind of warrior who was able to die for what they had to defend. There had a strong fraternity commitment with the kingdom and its citizens. They were willing to fight with any malignant creature, people or monster who represented a threat to the kingdom. The boundary between the evil and good was set by the idea of defending the place Beowulf lived, and attacked the ones that were attacking and killing their warriors. This could be compared with the context in which the poem was created, because they had been receiving a lot of invasions, usurping their traditions, beliefs, values, and even the language they used was being transformed.
